The recent hurricanes have impacted our Mermaid Tail Trail, leaving some of our beloved mermaids temporarily displaced. Unfortunately, a few of our shimmering friends are currently unavailable for viewing. However, our team is working diligently to restore and reinstall the displaced mermaids. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please check back with us for updates on when these magnificent mermaids will return to their posts along the trail.

Queen Bee

Queen Bee is inspired by the artist’s grandfather’s bee keeping combined with her love for nature (and honey), she’s a true natural queen!

About the Artist:

Rachel Ford

Rachel Ford, a local artist from Homosassa, relocated from rural Pennsylvania to the wild banks of the Chassahowitzka River as a child. Ford was instantly mesmerized by the new tropical world around her and the Florida Nature Coast continues to inspire her works today.

In Citrus County, Rachel has become a well-known “Artist for Hire”, whose commission works include canvas paintings, pet portraits, pyrography, and graphite art, but her real passion is in murals. Ford executed her first mural at the age of 17 and now has over 25 murals completed throughout the county.

Ford studied at Florida School of the Arts and spent several years instructing for Painting with a Twist before moving into freelance work with focus on mural design. Her style is easily recognized by her use of bright colors and bold contrasts. You can view more of her work at Rachel Ford Designs.
